Nilavilakku

Description

Lamps representing spiritual well-being symbolize the replacement of  “Thamas” (darkness) by “Jyothir” (light). The Nilavilakku is a traditional Kerala lamp which is typically lit every to welcome Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth). Lit using oil and cotton wicker, its blooming bud shape and shine allow it to reflect light in all directions.

Nila vilakku- Traditional Kerala Lamp – This is a popular design made in different sizes. Through out Kerala this design is commonly used as it is plain  easily maintainable. As it is made in various sizes for various purposes keeping in pooja room, for marriage, for special rituals for Grihapravesam etc etc.

      This bigger version of this unique design is called Atta vilakku or Kathakali vilakku. This is of 5 feet height. Traditional exquisite, design. popularly known as “Nilavilakku”.
