Vengala Pana or Bronze Pot the traditional vessel that was used for cooking food. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin.  

Use Bronze pot – Vengala pana to cook rice or dal or Pongal , sweet Pongal and also to boil milk. 

Vengala Panai is one of the important vessel that is gifted to new bride during the wedding in Tamil Brahmin Tradition as this vessel has to be used during festivals 

Benefits of Cooking in Bronze Vessel:

Bronze has medicinal value that specifically pacifies Vata   dry skin, nervous temperament, irritability and pitta. It also helps reduce obesity, improve eyesight and skin condition. This vessel is best to cook; however, you cannot use ghee in a bronze vessel

Use the bronze Vengala pana to avoid overflow of water while cooking rice in Vengala Panai.

This traditional vessel will take some time to get heated but after the food is cooked, it keeps the food warm for few hours – so you can avoid to transfer the food to hot case.

Bronze is known to retain more than 98% of the nutrients of the food cooked in them.

A very traditional use of Vengala Panai is during the celebration of Pongal and Sankranti festival for making sweet pongal dish in this vessel
